Fair Play to Over 700 Budding Athletes

Over 700 young athletes and coaches turned out to support the Aire Valley School Sport Partnership Sports Fair on Wednesday 19 May at Nab Wood Sports Centre.

The event was a great success with over 50 clubs showcasing a wide range of sports available in the Bingley; Shipley; Saltaire and wider Bradford areas for all ages from 2 years up.

The crowd were treated to spectacular performances in the main hall from a host of cheerleading; dance; martial arts groups, on the stage, whilst trampoline somersaults; board diving were performed and baskets and penalties were hitting the back of the net.

National champion Mary Fuller dazzled spectators in the Table Tennis; putts were sunk on the golf course; cover drives were coached at the cricket; long jump records were under threat and if it wasnt bolted to the floor many of the rowers would have made it half way up the river Aire.

Box splits and tumbling, rallies aplenty on the Badminton and Tennis courts and many more stalls amazed and informed children and parents alike and if that wasn’t enough you even had to scale the climbing wall just to get to the car park!

Many young people took the opportunity to sign up with the clubs who did a phenomenal job of showcasing their clubs and all of it on a voluntary basis.
Special thanks should go to Ruth Woodwiss, the staff at Nab Wood Sports Centre and all the young leaders from Bingley Grammar; Beckfoot; Titus Salt; St Josephs; St Bedes; Nab Wood and Hazelbeck who made the event such a success.
