Netball

For the fourth year running England Netball has teamed up with British Gymnastics and UK Athletics to offer a unique opportunity for young coaches, umpires and volunteers to attend their Young Leaders’ Camp 2011. So, if you are a young leader / volunteer, or if you know of one, please read on…

The purpose of the Young Leaders’ Camp is to deliver an inspirational leadership opportunity for young people aged 16-19 years and to train those young leaders in a number of areas of the game, using them as long-term advocates and volunteers within Netball Clubs.

The camp returns to Bradfield College in Berkshire, and will run from Sunday 14 August - Wednesday 17 August 2011 and will involve a whole variety of learning opportunities around leadership skills, team building and netball in general.

The event will be run by staff from the three sports with the programme covering a whole breadth of netball from learning about coaching and umpiring, to sports psychology, high five, running a club and much more!

England Netball is offering 50 of our most dedicated young volunteers from across the Country, the opportunity to attend the Camp completely FREE of charge (including all accommodation, workshops and meals). Attendees are required to transport themselves to the camp, however there may be the opportunity to share transport with others. If it is felt appropriate, Clubs or County Associations can make a contribution towards travelling costs.

To be eligible, you need to meet the following criteria:

Young Leaders should be aged between 16 and 19 years of age at the time of the camp

Can demonstrate their commitment to volunteering and articulate the aspirations they have as a volunteer and their desire to succeed

HIgh 5 to Eldwick

Aire Valley School played host to the Aire Valley SSP High 5 Netball Finals 2011. Four teams had qualified for the finals by winning their respective cluster competitions. All players and teams warmed up very well in preparation to compete.

The atmosphere in the first games was very tense. Players were focused on the opposition and determined not to give anything away. At first play was very scrappy and balls were bouncing and rolling due to the players nerves. As the games went on the passing and movement really improved and players found their rhythm and grew into potential club netball players.

Many thanks to all the leaders from Beckfoot School who umpired extremely well and motivated the players throughout.

Congratulations to all that took part. The netball played was of a high standard all should be praised on their ability and teamwork.
