St. Bedes gymnastics club is a voluntary club that has been established for fourteen years. In October 2004 it was the first gymnastics club in Bradford to gain GymMark status because it offers safe, effective and child-friendly gymnastic sessions for all.
The club is all inclusive with 13 BG qualified coaches (1 International Performance coach, 2 Senior Club coaches, 2 Club coaches and 8 assistant club coaches), 1 National judge, 3 Regional judges and 2 Club judges. The two senior club coaches have both been presented with the Award of Merit by British Gymnastics for their services to gymnastics. One of the coaches is an ex British Gymnast who has competed for Great Britain against Russia and Sweden. She is also an ex British tumbling champion There are over 150 gymnasts who attend either recreational sessions or competition sessions during the week. Over the years the club has had numerous Yorkshire individual and team Champions at various levels. The club has a wide range of gymnastics apparatus to cover all abilities. All the coaches are British Gymnastics qualified, CRB checked, first aid qualified and safeguarding and protecting children trained, with many years coaching experience. Five members of St. Bede's Gymnastics Club passed their National and Regional grades at the recent Yorkshire Grades competitions held in Halifax and York. The grades ranged from Regional grade twelve to National grade eight. The girls who took the grades were Georgia Adams, Charlotte Pearson, Becky Holdsworth, Harriet Loynes and Jenny Bailey. Georgia Adams came second overall in the grade twelve Year 2001 and Becky Holdsworth came fourth overall in the Regional grade twelve Year 1999. Harriet Loynes and Jenny Bailey passed their National Grade eight. Distinctions were gained by Georgia, Becky and Harriet. St. Bede's Gym Club is the first Bradford Gymmark accredited Club offering friendly, safe, effective recreational and competitive gymnastics.
