Dancers from Oakbank, Beckfoot, Titus Salt Secondary Schools, Trinity and All Saints, Myrtle Park and Eldwick Primary Schools, aged between 6 and 19, were applauded by all as the hard work put in to rehearsals was clear to see.
Club performances from High Energy Dance Academy, DM Academy and Hot Ice Dance Academy enforced the reason why any young aspiring dancer should join a club.
All the teams cheered and congratulated each other which was particularly nice to see across the wide age range of performers.
Winners of the Primary school category; Trinity and All Saints had competed with a moving performance to 'I'm Walking in the air' from 'The Snowman'.
A parent of one of the performers said:
'It was an excellent evening with all competitors performing with lots of skill and enthusiasm. I was pleased to see children and young people having so much fun together and supporting each other'.
The Champions of the secondary schools category were the Oakbank Crew who performed a contemporary dance to 'Rihanna – Hard'. The choreography was the performers original work, executed with high quality technical ability.
All schools and students involved should be congratulated for their hard work and excellent performances.
A massive thank you is also given to all spectators who contributed to the total amount of £150 donated to Manorlands Hospice.
Steve Bell Oakbank Partnership Development Manager said:
'Congratulations to all who took part. This brilliant celebration of dance was an ideal way to raise money for Sue Ryder Care. Many thanks to all who contributed.'
Manorlands Fundraiser, Rachel Cunningham said:
'It is great that Sue Ryder Manorlands Hospice can work together with the Oakbank and Aire Valley School Sports Partnerships and raise vital funds for the hospice through enjoyable events such as this that the students are keen to participate in'.
