Being a Sports Ambassador has been a great experience. I have represented Aire Valley School (formerly Nab Wood School) in the sports partnership where I have been able to learn new skills and make new friends. My first initial experience was the conference welcoming all new ambassadors. Not only did I learn more about being an ambassador, I had got the chance to meet Great Britain Olympians, such as Jamie Staff and Craig Heap.

Soon I was able to join leadership courses and volunteer at sports events. I refereed for students in primary schools. I learnt more about football and how hard it is to actually keep up and ensure fairness. I went to a conference where I learnt management skills, improvisation skills, teaching badminton and teaching sports for the less able. These are all skills I could use later on in life; I will also be able to use these skills if I ever had to teach younger students a lesson of P.E. I volunteered to be a timer/adjudicator in the sports hall athletics competition. I recently was a judge at a trampolining competition after 6 hours of training.

Being a Sports Ambassador had opened many doors for me. The above in only some of the skills I learnt, but the key thing is I had fun learning these things and it has been a big eye opener for me.
