The Charitable Youth Trust have agreed to provide finance for a new venture, enabling an offer of these Road-shows to youngsters completely FREE of charge. Coaching will be provided by CRB-checked coaches in association with JMS Sport UK, former Yorkshire and Somerset professional Jeremy Batty, Cheshire CCC Matt Dawson and local coach Liam Dyson from Li-on Sports Development. All have played cricket at high level and each is a Level 3 or 2 Cricket coach. The Road-shows will be officially launched on Friday 6 May at Haworth Cricket Club, commencing 6:30pm and will be of approx 2 hours duration. The events are open to youngsters under the age of 13, irrespective of whether they have played cricket before. Each Road-show will be themed as either direct hit, sweep for six, the Dilshan & reverse sweep, skiers, slower ball, the Yorker etc, with a competition to be held at the end of each Road-show based on the themed skill for the night. Road-shows will be promoted through the Schools Sports Partnerships and local Media. Coaching drills will be themed at each venue with the Haworth opener, themed around batting techniques. |
